Early Life and Education

Nawaz Sharif received his early education from Lahore and later graduated from the University of Punjab.

Second Stint as Prime Minister (1997-1999)

Nawaz Sharif's second stint as Prime Minister began in 1997, but it was cut short when General Pervez Musharraf seized power in a military coup in 1999. Sharif was arrested and later exiled to Saudi Arabia.

Third Stint as Prime Minister (2013-2017)

Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan in 2007 and led his party, the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N), to victory in the 2013 general elections. He became the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the third time, but his government was marred by corruption allegations and political instability. In 2017, the Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified him from holding public office due to corruption charges.

During his tenure, Pakistan saw significant economic growth, and he implemented several infrastructure projects, including the Lahore-Islamabad motorway and the Lahore Metro.

Personal Life

Nawaz Sharif is married to Kulsoom Nawaz and has four children, including Maryam Nawaz, who is also a politician. He is known for his conservative and business-friendly policies and has maintained a strong political base in Punjab, Pakistan's most populous province.
